Image: Duplicate of Lake and Red Tree (Tom Thomson)
Date: Fall 2008
Description: A school project in Grade 11.
Inspiration: My art teacher had a poster-size picture of Lake and Red Tree by Tom Thomson. With it in front of me, I painted my duplicate. It was the first time I worked in oils, and I really enjoyed it. A small tree in the foreground, and behind it, rough waters are flowing. I loved how, with every layer of oil paint I added, the picture seemed to come to life.
Approximate Size: 2.5’ x 2’
Media Used: Oil on canvas. |
